Le Duc Sound Safari Team Roles

We are smarter than me.  All students will take turns in the following team roles.  We will rotate each time we go on safari.

Director: Know the Plan / Write It Down

  • Get a blue clipboard
  • Get a piece of paper to record the details of the recordings
  • Get a pen or pencil
  • Write the date
  • Record team number
  • Record team member names
  • Write who recorded the audio and took pictures pictures
  • Record the information for each recording

Engineer/Technician: Audio Deck Recording

  • MICROPHONE
    • Select INPUT – 1 and 2 on Audio Deck (two red lights)
    • Plug-in Microphone CHANNEL 1 or CHANNEL 2 (on the bottom of the Audio Deck)
  • RECORD
    • Tap the RECORD BUTTON (flashing red ring means ready to record)
    • Get the mic close to the subject
    • Press RECORD BUTTON (red ring light should be SOLID RED)
    • Tap the STOP BUTTON (square button) when you are finished

Downloader/Audio Manager: Download Audio Files and Share with Team

  • Turn off the Zoom Audio Deck
  • Plug in a USB CABLE to the computer (on the side)
  • Select USB STORAGE (with the scroll wheel on the right side)
  • Double-click the H4N Folder in the top right corner of the iMac computer
    • Open the STEREO FOLDER
    • Open FOLDER 01
  • Drag AUDIO FILES to the desktop
  • Title the files what they are
  • Share the files in a team folder in Google Drive
    • Make sure to share the folder with everyone on your team

Photographer: Camera Operations

  • Use your phone OR
  • Get a Canon camera
    • Delete all pictures on the card
    • Set the camera to AV
    • Turn on camera
    • Set lens to AF or autofocus
    • Set that film speed or ISO to the teacher’s recommendation (usually 400)
  • Save the images to a shared Google Drive folder
    • Make sure to share the folder with everyone on your team
