Goal

  • Convey knowledge of drum and percussion terms and understanding of concepts of rhythm production in GarageBand.

Product

  • Create a blog post with embedded media from YouTube, SoundCloud, and/or Flickr off your composition and video explanation.

Steps

  • Day 1 – Create Blog Post, Add Section Headings,  and Define Terms
    • Create blog post titled, Recording and Mixing with GarageBand
    • Create the Summary heading
    • Create the Terms heading
      • Copy and paste all the terms
      • Start writing the definitions in your own words
  • Day 2 – Refine Terms and Train for your team role 
    • Finish definitions
  • Day 3 through second to last day of project
    • Create a midi track (Green track)
      • Include the notes C, E, and G, the notes of the C major chord
      • Create a motif, aka a ‘riff’, that have rhythm and a catchy melody
    • Create a rhythm track with the drummer track (Yellow track)
    • Create other midi tracks to add complexity to the motif
  • 2nd To Last Day
    • Create a screencast of the motif
      • Explain and demonstrate the basics parts of GarageBand and publish to YouTube
        • Include:
    • Create What I Learned heading
      • Explain what you learned and at least one problem you overcame
  • Last Day
    • Present project
